Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse / Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Maryland

Start Date: October 12, 2026

Location: Randallstown, Maryland

Schedule: Every other weekend required; 12-hour shifts; typical nurse-to-patient ratio 1:4, may flex to 1:5 based on acuity; floating required within scope to like units (1:6 ratio when floated to non-telemetry Med-Surg)

Highlights:

  • 40-bed Progressive Care Unit serving adult and geriatric patients with an average daily census of 36
  • Stroke-certified unit with telemetry monitoring; RNs interpret and document cardiac rhythms
  • Diverse patient population including CHF, COPD, MI, sepsis, pneumonia, GI bleed, ETOH withdrawal, renal failure, stroke, and altered mental status
  • Experience with peritoneal dialysis, chest tube management, non-titratable cardiac drips, and CVA care
  • Charting system: Cerner; scrubs provided (navy blue)
  • 36-hour orientation; local candidates accepted; first-time travelers welcome

Requirements:

  • Active Maryland or Compact RN license required at time of submission
  • Minimum 2 years PCU/Stepdown or Med-Surg/Telemetry experience required
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale
  • Prophecy Relias Advanced EKG assessment required
  • 4 hours annual stroke continuing education required
  • Strong EKG interpretation skills and experience with non-titratable cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Diltiazem/Cardizem, Lasix)
  • Experience with CVA patients and chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-Evac systems)
  • Competency with peritoneal dialysis, heparin protocols, and telemetry rhythm documentation
  • Ability to serve as Code Team recorder and timekeeper
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
