Description:
Mixed unit with PCU, Med Surg Tele, and Med Surg patients.
Ratios of 1:4 for all shifts.
First-timers accepted.
Weekend shifts required every other week, specifically Friday and Saturday evenings.
Floating within service line is expected, including floating to other facilities as needed.
Floating units may include Neuro/Stroke, Cardiac, Orthopedic, Trauma, Oncology, General Surgery, and Vascular.
Patient age group: Adults.
Common patient diagnoses include CHF, COPD, GI bleeds, COVID, and pneumonia.
Special procedures include care for bariatric surgery patients and hepatobiliary surgeries.
Work settings involve telemetry with cardiac monitoring and emergency response.
Skills required include managing dysrhythmias, IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting IVs.
Experience with computerized charting systems is required.
Wound care expertise is necessary.
Triage and care for various respiratory conditions will be needed.
Professional topics relevant to the role include TPN titration and advanced wound management.
Travelers are expected to adapt to scheduling changes with two weeks' notice.
Candidate must have experience with Epic charting system.
References from prior employment must be available.
Experience with acute care and telemetry is preferred.
Additional skills may include managing central line care and blood product administration.
Floating to other units is a standard expectation for this role.
