Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA) Must-Have: EKG monitoring skills Description: Auto-offer based on clinical prescreen. Dysrhythmia exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance of position. A maximum of 2 attempts is allowed, no exceptions. Failing the exam results in a DNU for 6 months. Candidates may not have worked with any associated facilities within the past year. A minimum of 2 years of experience is required. Unit specializes in CHF telemetry patients. There are 30 beds in this unit. Ratios are 1 nurse to 3-4 patients. Nurses are required to titrate medications. Common drips include cardiac, heparin, and diuretics. Charge nurses do not take patient assignments. Patient care technicians are available at a ratio of 1 for every 15 patients. Respiratory equipment available includes nasal cannula and Bipap/Cpap for obstructive sleep apnea. RNs must interpret EKGs using centralized tele monitors. Self-scheduling is permitted with 12-hour shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM. Weekend requirements include every other weekend. Holiday requirements involve 2 major holidays and 2 minor holidays depending on contract dates. Floating to any telemetry floor is required. Scrub color is navy. Common diagnoses include CHF, fluid overload, shortness of breath, and arrhythmias. The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, and 3 shifts for shorter assignments. Charting system used is Cerner.
