Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Must have an active RN license prior to start date. Certifications: ACLS, BCLS Must-Have: Proficient in cardiac monitoring. Experience in management of chest tubes. Experience with fresh tracheostomy and feeding tube care. Ability to care for post-operative patients. Experience with epidurals. Knowledge in management of non-titratable cardiac drips. Experience in IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips. Familiarity with external BiPAP/CPAP management. Experience with total laryngectomy and flap checks. Description: First-time travelers are accepted. Locals are not accepted. Call-ins: If a traveler calls in for a contracted shift, they are expected to make up the day during the pay period if working a 0.9 FTE. If unable to make up the shift during the pay period, it will be added at the end of the traveler's contract. If working a 1.2 FTE, any call-in shifts will also be added to the end of the contract. Travelers are expected to work every other weekend per contract. Based on operational needs, consecutive weekends may be needed. Pending operational needs, unit charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned with provided training and resources. Travel nurses may be precepting or assigned students to shadow them while on assignment. Floating may be required to different levels of care, including Med-Surg and ICU. Refusal to float may lead to termination of the contract. The unit has a staffing ratio of 1:3-4. Effective 11/30/24, certain resident nurses will not be able to work in these facilities. Requirements include minimum two years of experience and proficiency in various technical nursing skills. The patient population primarily consists of adults in a surgical progressive care setting. Interdisciplinary support is available including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Looking for candidates experienced in caring for patients post-operative from various surgical procedures. Travelers must be compliant with all transportable service protocols within the facility.
