Job Title: RN - PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 Years License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Must-Have: Minimum 1 year current acute care hospital PCU experience BLS, ACLS & NIH Description: This is a travel position for a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit. The unit features 24 beds and a dedicated staff for quality patient care. The staff includes a charge nurse and several RNs and Patient Care Technicians. Patient ratios are maintained at 5:1 for optimal care. The unit is equipped with telemonitoring and post-operative monitoring capabilities. The electronic medical record system utilized is Meditech/CPN. The ideal candidate should possess friendly and outgoing personality traits. Teamwork is highly valued in this unit environment. Typical procedures include post-operative recovery for surgical and cath lab patients, including orthopedic, spine, and GYN procedures. Additional patient types include those recovering from elective catheter lab procedures. Patients may present with a variety of conditions including stroke, chest pain, renal failure, and respiratory failure. The unit utilizes a set rate for cardiac drips, with the exception of heparin which is non-titrating. A modified self-scheduling process allows for schedules to be posted three weeks in advance. This unit promotes a collaborative culture with excellent teamwork and support among staff. State-of-the-art facilities are present, including ADA/Bari rooms and Hoyer lifts. There is an opportunity to work with a varied population of patients, providing a comprehensive nursing experience.
