Description:
This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Progressive Care Unit.
The unit has a total of 30 beds, with 22 for acute care and 8 for stepdown.
Patient ratios are 6:1 on the acute care side and 4:1 on the stepdown side.
Staffing includes 1 RN Charge overseeing the entire unit, 1-2 Techs, and a unit secretary.
Available equipment includes vital sign machines, high flow oxygen, chest tubes, suction, and various drips for acute care.
For the neuro stepdown, equipment includes Vapotherm, BiPAP, tracheostomy care supplies, and the ability to titrate cardiac drips.
Documentation is completed in a specific electronic health record system.
Weekend shifts are required as part of the scheduling process.
Experienced nurses may float to other areas after orientation.
Patient experience includes bedside shift report, personal connection, and daily huddles.
The unit performs common procedures such as lumbar punctures and chest tube placements.
Recognition programs are offered, including employee of the month.
This unit provides a strong foundation for those interested in progressing to an ICU.
