Candidates must have a valid VA license or compact license at submission. BLS and ACLS certifications are required. The unit has 26 beds dedicated to progressive care. There are 6-7 registered nurses scheduled per shift. The unit operates with acuity-based staffing. Patient ratios are typically 1:1, 1:2, and occasionally 1:3. Common equipment includes GE Telemetry, Baxter Sigma Spectrum IV pumps, and Hill-Rom patient beds. The electronic medical record system used is MediTech. Candidates should have experience with MediTech. Flexibility and adaptability to change are essential personality traits for this role. The ability to work extra shifts is preferred. Typical procedures performed include Mid Line and PICC Line placements. Weekends are based on unit needs, with a minimum of 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule. On-call availability is not required. Candidates should be prepared to float to Medical Surgical and Surgical areas, and occasionally to the Intensive Care Unit to care for patients boarding.
