Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1-2 years preferred License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH, CPI preferred Must-Have: - Previous charge experience - Cardiac telemetry experience - Experience with a patient ratio of 1:4 - Familiarity with Epic charting system - Cardiovascular experience Description: Functions as a cardiac stepdown unit with a significant cardiac patient population. Staffing ratios are 1:4. Weekend coverage is required as needed and rotating. Float requirements exist based on facility needs. No call requirement. Patients are primarily adults and geriatrics. Daily census averages around 38 patients with a total of 55 beds in the unit. Patients may present with conditions such as CHF, STEMI, and NSTEMI. Special procedures include post cardiac cath and post MI care. Interdisciplinary support available from various services including physical therapy and respiratory services. Staff is expected to manage a variety of procedures including BiPAP/CPAP management, cardiac drips (non-titrating), and chest tube care. Knowledge of high flow nasal cannula, feeding tube management, and isolation precautions is required. Experience with telemetry monitoring, starting and maintaining IVs, and wound care is necessary. Travelers are expected to float to like units as needed based on facility needs. Candidates should be prepared to undergo compliance checks within 48 business hours of contract signing.
