Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Hours (07:00 - 19:30) Experience: Minimum of 2 Years in PCU/Step Down License: Valid RN License in Michigan Certifications: BLS (AHA); preferred ONS or ONCC certification Must-Have: - Oncology/Chemotherapy experience preferred but not required - Experience administering chemotherapy via IV - Proficient in starting IVs - Familiarity with Epic for documentation Description: This position is for a step-down unit that cares for general medical and oncology step-down patients. The nurse will be responsible for administering chemotherapy and managing IVs. The equipment used includes Welch Allyn vital sign towers and sigma IV pumps. Daily nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1:4 to 1:6. Support staff is available if ratios increase. Charge RN is not typically assigned patients. Chemotherapy admissions will decrease assignment ratios. The nurse will be scheduled to work every other weekend. Additional responsibilities may involve floating to other medical-surgical units. Patient demographics include adults and geriatrics. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. Nurses will care for patients with various diagnoses including sepsis, renal failure, respiratory failure, cancer, and heart failure. Special procedures include chemotherapy and management of complex patient conditions. The unit has a total of 29 beds.
