Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit / Step Down Registered Nurse – Montana
Start Date: July 14, 2026
Location: Great Falls, Montana

Schedule: Night shift in Progressive Care Unit/Step Down setting; caring for hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable medical/surgical patients
Highlights:
- Provide specialized care to patients including post-operative surgical cases, post-PCI care, pacemaker placement, revascularization, carotid endarterectomy, thoracotomy, CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT, PE, sepsis, and broad surgical services
- Operate advanced medical equipment including central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, multiple IVs, and ventilatory support (CPAP, BiPAP, stable long-term ventilation)
- Manage common IV medications including Heparin, Diltiazem, Dobutamine, Lasix, Bumex, Amiodarone, and Dopamine (non-titrated)
- Work with cardiac telemetry, basic EKG interpretation, and provide care for patients with invasive lines and advanced monitoring needs
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and act as a clinical leader, with opportunities to precept staff
- May support Medical Surgical Nursing Unit as needed for optimal staffing and patient care
Requirements:
- Current State of Montana RN Licensure (or eligibility to obtain)
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required (PALS may be obtained within 6 months of hire)
- EPNC and TNCC certification preferred but not required
- Proficiency with multiple IV pumps, advanced medical equipment, invasive lines, chest tubes, and ventilatory support
- Knowledge of advanced nursing principles and procedures
- Experience in post-heart catheterization, post-operative vascular surgery, and pediatric care preferred
- Strong assessment skills and ability to recognize and intervene in potentially deteriorating patient conditions
