The nurse will be responsible for monitoring patients with conditions such as CVA and TIA. Patient ratios are 1:3 for RNs and 1:6 for CNAs. Adequate personal protective equipment is provided. A charge nurse will take patient assignments based on staffing needs. There is no phlebotomy available on the unit. A VAT team is available for PICC and midline placements. Support staff includes respiratory therapy and hospitalists available 24/7. Charting is done using an electronic medical record system. Floating to stepdown or med-surg units is required due to staffing needs. Weekend rotations are mandatory, with every other weekend required. The nurse may work a 4-day work week one week and a 3-day work week the next. Requests for time off are limited and require additional contract extensions for full weeks. Professionalism is expected; cell phone use and eating in patient care areas are prohibited. Scrub color is pewter, with specific guidelines for t-shirts and jackets. Badges must be worn visibly at all times.
