Description:
This role requires a registered nurse with emergency department experience.
The unit has a total of 29 beds.
Patient types include infants and end-of-life cases.
All acuity levels are covered: MedSurg, Stepdown, ICU.
Traumas are stabilized and transferred to a higher-level facility.
The unit handles multispecialty medical, cardiac, neuro, ortho, trauma, and interventional cases.
Patients may present with conditions such as STEMI, NSTEMI, heart failure, strokes requiring interventions, and various infections.
The nurse-patient ratio is typically 1:3-4 or 1:5 in fast-track areas.
A traveler is required to pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival.
Support on the unit includes a charge nurse who may also take patient assignments and phlebotomy services.
Resources such as RT and hospitalists are available 24/7.
The electronic medical record system used is Meditech Expanse.
IV pumps are Alaris, and medication dispensing is managed via Pyxis.
There are weekend rotation requirements and additional holiday expectations.
Professionalism is mandatory on the unit, with strict guidelines on cell phone usage.
Scrubs are of a specific color, with designated clothing requirements outlined.
Travelers may request limited time off during the contract.
