Description:
The Progressive Care Unit features 44 beds and is staffed by 95 healthcare professionals.
During day shifts, the unit consists of 2 Charge Nurses, 11 Registered Nurses, 4 Certified Nursing Assistants, and 1 Health Unit Coordinator.
Night shifts have the same staffing structure.
Patient ratios are 4:1 under normal circumstances and may stretch to 5:1.
The unit is equipped with IV pumps, Skylifts, PCA pumps, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and patient lifts.
Electronic medical records are managed using a specific software system.
Candidates must have the following certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
Preferred candidates will have experience in neuro and trauma care.
Common procedures performed in this unit include neuro and spinal checks, C-Collar placement, TLSO braces, chest tube insertion, PCA pump management, IV infusions, lumbar drain placements, feeding tube placements, and blood transfusions.
Ideal candidates will be team players who prioritize patient care.
Every other weekend work is required.
Floating may occur to stepdown and medical-surgical units.
Dress code consists of navy blue scrubs.
Unit guidelines and policies are applicable and should be followed.
