The unit has a total of 10 beds with patient ratios of 2:1 in ICU and 4-5:1 in PCU. Day shift staffing includes 1 Charge RN and 5 Staff RNs. Night shift staffing includes 1 Charge RN and 5 Staff RNs. There are no unit secretaries or patient care technicians available. Lift equipment, Targeted Temperature Management, ventilators, and IV pumps are used in the unit. Documentation is performed using a specific electronic system. Shift requirements include 12-hour shifts with every other weekend and holiday support. There are no on-call requirements. Travelers will be required to float. Bedside shift report is mandatory in all areas of the hospital. The relief charge nurse is expected to perform nurse leader rounding. Procedures performed on the unit include assisting providers with bedside procedures such as chest tube insertion and intubations. Candidates should possess critical thinking skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment. The dress code for this position requires navy blue or white scrubs.
