Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2+ years License: Active RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Neuro and Trauma Care experience Description: Progressive Care Unit information includes a total of 44 beds and approximately 95 staff members. The typical staffing grid consists of 2 Charge Nurses, 11 Registered Nurses, 4 Certified Nursing Assistants, and 1 Health Unit Coordinator for both day and night shifts. Patient ratios are 4:1 at grid levels and 5:1 when stretched. Common equipment used in the unit includes IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pumps, chest tubes, tracheostomy care equipment, and patient lifts. The electronic medical record system utilized is Cerner. Essential skills for candidates include proficiency in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS, with a focus on neuro and trauma care experience. The unit performs routine procedures such as neuro and spinal checks, C-Collar placements, TLSO brace applications, chest tube management, PCA pump administration, IV infusions, lumbar drain placements, feeding tube placements, and blood transfusions. The ideal candidate should be a team player and patient-focused. Floating to stepdown units and medical-surgical units may be required. The dress code consists of navy blue scrubs. Every other weekend commitment is expected.
