Nurses will provide care for post-operative patients and those requiring advanced monitoring. Nurse-driven protocols are in place for specific therapies, including heparin regimens. Special equipment used in this role includes arterial lines, chest tubes, and ECG machines. Effective interpretation and management of dysrhythmias are essential skills for this position. Nurses must be prepared to float within their scope of practice as needed. The position requires adherence to strict patient care policies and protocols.
