Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 19:00 - 07:00 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 Years License: RN License Required Certifications: ACLS Required Must-Have: Step-Down Experience Cardiac Drips Experience BIPAP/CPAP/High Flow Experience Knowledge and experience with Sepsis Description: The unit has 20 beds. Patient ratios are 4:1. Staffing includes Unit Secretary, Nurse Externs (who can start IVs), Patient Care Techs (who can draw labs), Registered Nurses, a Manager, and a Director. The unit is equipped with ZOLL monitors, Baxter pumps, GE telemetry monitors, iMobile, Hillrom beds, Centrella Specialty beds, Kangaroo pumps, and Timpani and Inspire App for scheduling. The documentation system used is Expanse. Scheduling requirements include every other weekend, holiday availability, and the expectation of 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays per schedule. The floating policy allows staff to float to other Step-Down units with a 4:1 ratio and Medsurg units with a 6:1 ratio. Patient experience requirements include proficiency in ACLS, acute care/step-down, and cardiac drips such as Diltiazem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Milrinone, Nitro, etc. Experience with post-catheterization without intervention, BIPAP/CPAP/High Flow, and chest tubes is also necessary. The team values accountability and teamwork. The unit has a 0% turnover rate for the last two years. Staff range from those with 30+ years of nursing experience to new graduates eager to learn. There is a great relationship with the ICU and Cath Lab. Awards and recognitions include the Daisy Award, Rose Award, Bee Award, and Pride Award. Mandatory guidelines include punctuality, with shifts beginning promptly at 07:00 or 19:00. Bedside shift reporting is expected for all patients, including those in isolation. BSSR (Bedside Shift Report) is mandatory. All staff are required to wear navy blue or all white scrubs, closed-toe shoes, and HCA/Client-branded T-shirts are permitted.
