Patient ratios are Step Down 1:4-5 and Medical-Surgical 1:5-6. The nurse will care for adult and geriatric patients with a variety of diagnoses. Patients may include those with surgery recovery, sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, diabetes, and oncology needs. Some nursing responsibilities include blood product administration, IV management, and telemetry monitoring. Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory services, physical therapy, and social services. The position requires effective communication skills and a collaborative work approach. Nurses may also participate in patient education and end-of-life care discussions. This role expects participation in weekend and holiday rotations as needed.
