Description:
This role primarily involves working on a Med Surg unit.
The nurse will frequently float to Step Down and Med Surg/Telemetry units.
The typical patient ratios are 1:4-5 in Step Down and 1:5-6 in Med Surg.
Candidates must confirm their willingness to float.
Traveling nurses will be expected to float to the PCU unit as needed.
Unit profile includes a 29-bed general surgical and orthopedic unit with medical overflow.
Most patients have surgical and orthopedic conditions, along with medical consults.
Common patient diagnoses include total knee arthroplasty, total hip arthroplasty, and surgical interventions for various conditions.
Special procedures required in this role include managing heparin drips, chest tubes, and feeding tubes.
Experience in telemetry and cardiac care, including managing dysrhythmias, is essential.
The role supports interdisciplinary collaboration with various medical professionals.
Candidates should be skilled in accessing/management of ports, blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs.
Expect to work some holidays and weekends on a rotating basis with staff.
This facility requires a high level of flexibility and adaptability due to floating between units.
All policies comply with current standards, ensuring appropriate orientation for any new unit transitions.
