Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit / Medical-Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse – North Carolina
Start Date: October 19, 2026

Schedule: 12-hour day shifts (06:45–19:15), 36 hours per week, every other weekend required. Contract length available for 13–26 weeks. Patient ratios typically 1:4–5 on a mixed-acuity 48-bed unit with PCU, telemetry, and medical-surgical patients.
Highlights:
- Mixed acuity unit caring for COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, acute respiratory failure, COVID-19, influenza, pulmonary embolism, and patients requiring chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, and chronic tracheostomy/ventilator support
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including dedicated admission/discharge nurse, assistant nurse manager on shift, vascular access team, respiratory therapists, rapid response team, and behavioral health team
- Epic EMR with Pyxis medication management and SBAR communication protocols
- Manage telemetry monitoring, interpret and manage dysrhythmias, and administer cardiac and vasoactive drips including Dopamine, Cardizem, and Heparin
- Block scheduling may be accommodated when unit needs are met; float requirement to similar units as needed
- 24-hour orientation program with extensive clinical support resources
Requirements:
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience strongly preferred
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
- Proficiency in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, CPAP/BiPAP therapy, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with chest tubes, central line care, heparin protocols, and blood product administration
- Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start date
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Ability to work in a high-acuity environment with strong teamwork and adherence to attendance policies
