Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 7 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years preferred; first-timers accepted License: Valid state nursing license required Certifications: BLS and ACLS required Must-Have: Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias Description: The position is for a registered nurse specializing in the cardiac stepdown unit. The unit admits patients from critical care and emergency departments. Patient population includes adults to geriatrics. Common diagnoses include post-operative CABG, thoracic and vascular surgeries, respiratory failure, cardiac arrhythmias, DKA, GI bleeds, trauma, CVA, seizures, metabolic and renal failure, hypertensive emergencies, sepsis, and neuro disorders. The nurse will work with a patient ratio of 1:3-4. The unit has 32 beds with an average daily census of 21. The nurse will be required to float within the facility as needed according to their scope of practice. No call requirements are involved. Availability is expected for major holidays as specified. Full compliance with onboarding requirements is mandatory to start on time. The position requires teamwork with interdisciplinary support services, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and more. Telemetry competency is necessary for this role. The unit utilizes various systems for documentation and medication management. Weekly schedules include working every other weekend unless stated otherwise.
