Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (06:45 - 19:15) Experience: Minimum 2 years required, traveler experience preferred License: Must hold an active nursing license Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS preferred Must-Have Skills: IV start, ventilation (CPAP/BiPAP), telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Description: RTO after booking is not allowed. Call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly lead to cancellation. The expected patient ratio is 1:4-5 on a mixed acuity unit withPCU and medical-surgical telemetry patients, which may increase to 1:6 in extreme situations. Shifts may be offered for a duration of 36 hours weekly. Positions are accepted for 13-26 weeks. Every other weekend work is required. The patient population primarily includes those with COPD, pneumonia, respiratory distress, and COVID-19. The unit provides care for chronic trach and ventilator patients, with an operational model ensuring no nurse has more than one vent patient at a time. Supportive resources available include an admission/discharge nurse, assistant nurse manager, vascular access team, Rapid Response Team, code team, and behavioral health team. High-acuity situations may involve a variety of complex diagnoses and require proficiency in managing telemetry patients. Unit-specific systems utilized include applicable electronic health record systems. Candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting in this specialty. The role requires a commitment to teamwork and adherence to workplace policies. Flexibility in floating to similar units is expected, and all shifts are subject to operational needs.
