The unit has 28 beds with an average census of 26 patients. Patient types include Acute Coronary Syndrome, Heart Failure, NSTEMI/STEMI, Chest Pain, and post-cardiac procedures. The RN to patient ratio is 1:4-5. Support staff includes CNAs who assist with vital signs, ADLs, and safety rounds. There is also a receptionist/charge nurse who may have an assignment. Phlebotomy services include peripheral blood draws only. Telemetry monitoring is managed by nurses, who verify strips once per shift. RT services are available 24/7, as well as hospitalists and intensivists. Technology includes electronic medical records, IV pumps, and medication dispensing systems. The unit fosters a family atmosphere, where teamwork is the top priority.
