Job Title: RN - Progressive Care Unit Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 18 months PCU RN experience License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with traches Cardiac gtt experience Cardiac rhythm interpretation Chest tubes Blood products Wound care/dressing changes Management of central lines Description: We are seeking a Registered Nurse for the Progressive Care Unit. This unit accommodates various patient diagnoses not requiring mechanical ventilation. Common diagnoses include CHF, dysrhythmia, chest pain work-ups, stroke, abdominal illnesses, infections, respiratory illness, diabetes, AKI/CKD, and ETOH withdrawal. Patient ratios are typically 1:4 but may go to 1:5 depending on patient acuity. The role includes collaboration with a charge nurse and support staff. CNA support is available for activities of daily living during the day shift. Phlebotomy services are provided, with other healthcare professionals available around the clock. Telemetry monitoring is performed both at the bedside and from the nurses’ station. Floating to other facilities in the region may be required as needed. The unit fosters a family-oriented culture. Travelers may be called back for low census and expected to work holidays. Schedule covers every six weeks with a rotating weekend requirement. Time off requests are permitted, excluding holidays.
