Description:
This position involves providing care in a Progressive Care Unit.
The unit consists of 32 beds.
Patients may include those with various conditions such as CHF, dysrhythmias, chest pain evaluations, strokes, abdominal illnesses, respiratory issues, diabetes, acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, alcohol withdrawal, and intravenous drug abuse.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4 but may increase to 1:5 depending on patient acuity.
Support within the department includes CNAs assisting with activities of daily living, charge nurses available for guidance, and a 24/7 respiratory therapy team.
Phlebotomy services are provided beyond nurse draw.
Hospitalists and intensivists are also available 24/7.
Telemetry monitoring is conducted both at the bedside and at the nurses' station.
The position requires flexibility as nurses may be required to float to other facilities based on regional needs.
Travel time between facilities will be compensated when floating mid-shift.
A weekend rotation is expected, working every other weekend, with no on-call requirements.
Travelers will work during 75% of holidays.
Requests for time off can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays, with any time off added to the end of the contract if not covered during the contract period.
The unit promotes a family-oriented culture, and scrubs are navy blue in color.
