Job Title: Travel RN - PCU Profession: RN Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 Years of Acute Care Client Stepdown/PCU Experience License: RN License Certifications: BLS & ACLS Must-Have: Candidates must have at least 1 year of acute care hospital Stepdown/PCU experience. BLS and ACLS certifications are required. Description: This position involves providing care in a busy PCU setting. The unit has 34 beds and is split between two floors. Staffing typically includes a Charge RN during the day, staff nurses, and PCTs. Patient ratios are generally 1:4-5 and may flex to 1:6 for Med/Surg overflow. Travelers will be required to manage patient ratios of 1:5 or 1:6. Key equipment in the unit includes bladder scanners, EKG machines, and various lifts. The electronic medical record system used is Meditech. The ideal candidate should possess strong critical thinking skills and be able to identify decompensating patients. Experience with solid organ transplant care, higher oxygen delivery modalities, tracheostomy management, and Dobhoff tube placement is preferred. Knowledge of infection prevention for immunocompromised patients is essential. A strong team player who is reliable, adaptable, and willing to learn in a fast-paced environment is desired. Candidates should feel comfortable asking questions and contributing to a strong teamwork culture.
