Description

Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS certification Must-Have: Med/Surg experience Description: The unit has 20 beds with a patient ratio of 6:1. There is tech support available on both day and night shifts. An unit secretary is present from 7 AM to 7 PM. The type of equipment used includes IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse oximeters, feeding pumps, PCAs, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and communication technology. The documentation system utilized is Meditech. The scheduling requirements are for 3 shifts of 12 hours per week, including 2 weekends (4 shifts) in a 4-week schedule. Contract labor is the first to float, and a rotation is established when multiple contract labor staff are scheduled. Providing attentive and compassionate care to patients and their families is expected. Bedside shift reports and the ability to make personal connections with patients are essential. The hiring profile requests Med/Surg experience, the ability to prioritize care, multitask, start IVs, perform basic wound care, and maintain surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes. Advanced skills are not required. There are no specific procedures performed on this unit. The dress code requires navy scrubs, both tops and bottoms. Unit-specific policies and guidelines are to be provided.
