Experience with bipaps, high flow oxygen, and multiple oxygen delivery systems
Experience with stroke and post cardiac catheterization care
Experience with tube feedings and NG/Dobhoff tubes
Description:
The Progressive Care Unit has 34 beds with a patient ratio of 1:4 to 1:5 on days and 1:5 to 1:6 on nights.
When full, there are 3 techs available to assist in patient care.
The unit is equipped with bipaps, high flow oxygen, vapotherm, Alaris pumps, cardiac drips, heparin drips, insulin drips, and peritoneal dialysis equipment.
Wound vacs are used in conjunction with wound care.
The documentation system utilized is Meditech.
Scheduling requires working every other weekend, with a commitment of 3 twelve-hour shifts per week.
There may be a need to float between PCU units or to medical-surgical floors.
Patient experience initiatives include hourly rounding on days and every two-hour rounding on nights, utilizing AIDET and maintaining communication boards.
Certifications required for this position include BLS and ACLS.
The dress code requires black scrubs.
Unit-specific policies and guidelines will be provided.
The unit offers self-scheduling on a four-week basis.
Contracted staff are expected to work every other weekend.
There is a culture of caring and teamwork, with a focus on utilizing techs to assist in patient care.
Most travelers choose to extend their assignments after their initial contract.
