Description:
The nursing unit has a total of 20 beds.
Patient ratios are 6:1.
Tech support is available on both day and night shifts.
A unit secretary is present from 07:00 to 19:00.
The unit is equipped with IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse oximetry machines, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, and bladder scanners.
iMobile communication technology is used within the unit.
The documentation system utilized is Meditech.
Nurses are required to work three 12-hour shifts per week and two weekends (four shifts) in a four-week schedule.
Contract labor is the first to float, with rotation used when multiple staff are scheduled.
Nurses are expected to provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and family members.
Bedside shift report is conducted, and nurses are encouraged to make personal connections with patients and involve them and their families in the care plan.
The unit is certified for comprehensive stroke care and as an ACS verified level II trauma center, as well as a certified chest pain center.
Advanced skills are not required for this position.
There are no specific procedures performed on the unit that need to be highlighted.
The required uniform includes navy scrubs, both tops and bottoms.
