The role involves caring for patients in a unit with a patient ratio of 1:4. Travel experience is preferred for this position. Previous charge experience is advantageous. Candidates must have BLS and ACLS certifications. Skills required include accessing and managing ports, blood product administration, and cardiac telemetry. Experience with the care of ventilated patients, central line care, and management of chest tubes is necessary. Interpretation of arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias is required. Knowledge of isolation precautions and protocols for administering IV insulin is important. The nurse will manage cardiac drips and provide patient care in a telemetry setting. Care for patients with spinal cord injuries and involvement in rapid response/code teams is part of the role. Wound care and management of tracheostomies are also expected.
