Description:
The progressive care unit has 34 beds with patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5 on days and 1:5 to 1:6 on nights.
Three techs are available when full on the unit.
The primary type of equipment includes bipaps, high flow oxygen, vapotherm, alaris pumps, and various cardiac drips.
The documentation system used is Meditech.
Every other weekend is required for this contract position, along with three 12-hour shifts each week.
Floating between units may be necessary, including medical-surgical floors.
Patient experience requirements include hourly rounding on days and every two hours on nights, as well as maintaining communication boards.
The unit includes TV communication boards for improved patient information.
Advanced skills in ACLS are required for this role.
Procedures performed on the unit include peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, and central line dressing changes.
Wound vac troubleshooting is also a part of the responsibilities.
