Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Cardiac knowledge preferred Description: We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse for our Progressive Care Unit. The unit has 30 beds with a patient ratio of 5-6:1. Staffing includes a unit clerk during the day, 2-3 Patient Care Technicians on both day and night shifts, a Nursing Supervisor, and Clientists. Types of equipment include Welch Allyn vitals neuron, Novameter glucose, Philips Telemetry, and MP2s. Documentation is conducted using a Meditech system. Medications are managed through WOW with med drawers and a Pyxis ES dispensing system. Scheduling requires working every other weekend, totaling four weekend shifts in a four-week schedule. Floating is expected to other medical/surgical areas as needed. Patient experience requires bedside rounding and hourly rounding with 5Ps checked. Nurses must report known patient needs at the beginning and during shifts. Ongoing communication is facilitated through a scrolling video kiosk and email updates. ACLS and BLS certifications are mandatory. Advanced skills required include knowledge of Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone drips. Procedures performed on the unit include chest tube management, wound vac management, and EKGs as necessary. Documentation policies include telemetry application and acknowledgment of rhythm strips placed in charts each shift. A NO PASS ZONE policy is enforced for bed alarms, call lights, and IV alarms. The unit values the shared governance model and has experienced charge nurses. Recognition awards such as Daisy and Bee Awards are celebrated within the team.
