Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 Year License: Texas RN License Required Certifications: ACLS Required Must-Have: Critical care skill set for post-cath management Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Heart and Vascular unit. The unit focuses on the care of patients with specific cardiac and vascular diseases. Patients may be admitted if they meet the admission criteria set by the attending physician. Nursing assessments are performed every twelve hours unless otherwise ordered. Vital signs are taken every four hours unless otherwise specified. Once a physician has provided orders for a patient to transfer, the documentation requirements for that new department will apply. The unit has 31 beds and a staff of 63. Patient ratios are 1:4. Typical procedures include EKGs, EKG recognition, pacemaker interrogation, arterial sheath removal and monitoring, and cardiac drip maintenance. The dress code consists of royal blue scrubs, with the option to wear long-sleeve, no-print white, blue, or red undershirts. Only uniform-approved jackets may be worn.
