Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY: The Outpatient Services/PACU Nurse is responsible for the safe preparation, education, and discharge of the patient scheduled for a procedure. Responsibility includes assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of the patient in outpatient services, pre-op, post-op, PACU, and procedural sedation. The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
CERTS: BLS, ACLS, and PALS required. TNCC certification required within 6 months of hire, or as class availability allows. Current Wyoming licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse. National perioperative certification preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Prefer at least 2 years of experience in an acute care or surgical services area.
SKILLS: Knowledge of perioperative/post-anesthesia care nursing principles; knowledge of aseptic techniques and infection control principles. Able to perform effectively in highly stressful situations. Must be able to interact effectively with a wide variety of people. Excellent communication skills.
