Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Postpartum Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year in Mother-Baby Couplet care License: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of South Carolina or holds a current compact/multi-state license as a Registered Nurse Certifications: Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card, NRP certification within 6 months of hire, BCLS Certification Must-Have: BSN preferred Description: To provide nursing care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act. To apply professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Constant interaction with internal and external customers including patients, families, physicians, employees, and visitors is required. Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care is essential. Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to administer patient care is necessary. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment is important. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care is required. Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions is necessary. Skill in preparing and maintaining records and writing reports is essential. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, staff, and the public is needed. Ability to analyze situations and apply critical thinking is required. Ability to communicate clearly is necessary. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations is essential. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, and stooping is required. Frequent lifting, moving patients, and intermittent lifting, moving, or carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs is expected. Frequent use of finger and hand dexterity is required. Constant reaching with hands and arms is necessary. Frequent talking or hearing is needed. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range is required. Exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue is a possibility. Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases, and other conditions common to a healthcare environment may occur. Intermittent exposure to risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens is required. Moderate noise level in the work area may be present. Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours. May be required to take call and work weekends and holidays based on department needs.
