Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Postpartum Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day shift, every other weekend, holidays as needed, floating to other facilities Hours per Shift: 36 guaranteed hours Experience: Minimum 1 year Mother Baby Couplet care License: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of South Carolina or holds a current compact/multi-state license as a Registered Nurse Certifications: Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card; NRP certification required within 6 months of hire and must be kept current Must-Have: - 1 year Mother Baby Couplet care experience - 1 year BLS (AHA only) - Graduate of an accredited school or college of nursing Description: To provide nursing care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act. To apply professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Constant interaction with internal and external customers including patients, families, physicians, employees, and visitors is required. Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice is essential to deliver and evaluate patient care. Familiarity with organizational policies and procedures to administer patient care is necessary. Understanding of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment is required. Skills in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care are needed. Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions is essential. Skills in preparing and maintaining records and writing reports are necessary. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, staff, and the public is critical. Ability to analyze situations and apply critical thinking is required. Clear communication skills are necessary. The ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations is essential. Work demands include frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, and stooping. Frequent lifting and moving of patients is required. Intermittent lifting, moving, or carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs may be needed. Frequent use of finger and hand dexterity is necessary. Constant reaching with hands and arms is expected. Frequent talking or hearing is required. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range are necessary. There is exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue. Possible exposure to infectious materials and communicable diseases may occur. Intermittent exposure to blood-borne pathogens is a possibility. The work area will have a moderate noise level. Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours. May be required to take calls and/or work weekends or holidays based on departmental needs.
