Job Title: RN - Postpartum Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Post Partum/Mom Baby Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of current acute care Postpartum hospital experience License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS & NRP Must-Have: Candidates must have a minimum of 1-year current acute care Postpartum hospital experience. Candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role. Description: The unit features 29 beds and employs 61 staff members. The nursing staff is organized with charge nurses and support staff based on patient census. Patient ratios are 3-4 couplets per RN. Equipment utilized includes Welch Allen vitals machines, CPN monitors, and POC glucose monitoring. The electronic medical record system in use is Meditech. Typical procedures performed on the unit include POC glucose monitoring, breastfeeding support, and postpartum hemorrhage management. Nurses assist with circumcision and hypertension assessment and management. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, be a hard worker, and enjoy staying busy. Teamwork is highly valued, and the staff operates as a close-knit family. Scheduling is flexible, accommodating the needs of the traveling staff. The unit primarily cares for high-risk postpartum patients, with low-risk patients placed in a separate facility. This unit handles approximately 400-500 births each month.
