Key Responsibilities
- Maintains adequate respiratory and cardiac status of patients awakening from anesthesia through continual assessment and monitoring
- Regularly assesses patient needs and provides skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician-authorized plan of care and accepted standards of nursing practice
- Provides direct patient care including medication administration, treatments, responding to call lights and alarms, and assisting with transfers
- Evaluates the effectiveness of treatment plans and collaborates with the care team to update or revise plans using current clinical information
- Processes and performs physician/provider orders accurately, completely, and in a timely manner
- Follows up on medication changes and order clarifications to ensure patient safety and continuity of care
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
- Active Michigan RN license (verified through LARA and/or Nursys) required
- Active American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required
- Active American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification required
- Current skills checklist (within the last year) pertinent to PACU specialty required
- Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working with Epic EMR
- Background in acute care or high-acuity surgical environments
- Familiarity with post-anesthesia monitoring protocols and advanced patient recovery techniques
