Travel Nurse RN - Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) / Pre-Post Op in Portland, ME

Contract | Travel | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts | 26-Week Assignment | Start Time: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | Every other weekend (Saturday days scheduled) | Rotating call requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Phase 1 post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from Cardiac Cath, EP, TAVR, TEE/Cardioversion, Vascular, Robotic, and Pediatric Cath procedures
• Support the overnight (OVN) patient population within the MFT 1 unit, including a 23-hour short-stay embedded setting
• Monitor and manage patients using telemetry, A-lines, IV pumps, PCAs, epidurals, and cardiac drips; perform EKG interpretation and groin management
• Float as needed to the main PACU, IMC, or ICU to support census and border populations — floating is required
• Maintain patient ratios of 2:1 in Phase 1 care (up to 3–4 patients in 23-hour stay)
• Complete online education modules and participate in unit orientation as applicable

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 3 years of recent PACU experience
• ICU experience required
• Trauma Level 1 experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Experience with Pre- and Post-Procedure care for TEE/CV, Cath, EP, and OR procedures
• Willingness and ability to participate in rotating call requirements

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with Robotic TAVR and Pediatric Cath patient populations
• Proficiency with Epic EMR
• Experience with vascular pre- and post-procedure care
• Team-oriented with strong communication skills and a flexible, can-do attitude
