Key Responsibilities
Monitor vital signs, level of consciousness, and pain management for patients in the post-anesthesia care unit following surgery
Administer and titrate medications, including pain management agents and anesthesia reversal agents
Recognize and respond to airway complications in a timely and clinically appropriate manner
Start and manage IV lines, including administering fluids and medications
Provide post-operative care for patients following a variety of major surgeries including general, vascular, neuro, orthopedic, and trauma procedures (adult and pediatric populations)
Accurately document patient progress and interventions using electronic health records (EHR); must be able to report to PACU within 30 minutes when on call
Required Qualifications
Valid California RN license required and must be in hand at time of submission
Minimum education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS — copies must be included at time of submission
2–3 years of PACU and/or Critical Care experience with both adult and pediatric patients
Pre-operative nursing experience required
Local candidates are accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience caring for post-operative patients across multiple surgical specialties including neuro, vascular, orthopedic, and trauma
Familiarity with pre-op workflows and early morning start times (as early as 06:00)
Strong proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) documentation systems
