Travel Nurse RN - Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) / Pre-Post Op in Largo, MD

Manage patients presenting with diagnoses including orthopedic, neurological, cardiothoracic, vascular, general, thoracic, urological, and gynecological surgical conditions. Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required; first-time travelers considered with 3–5 years of strong PACU experience or a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience.

Contract | 13 Weeks | Days | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:30 AM – 8:00 PM) | Expected 36 hours/week | Every Other Weekend

Key Responsibilities

• Provide post-anesthesia care to a diverse patient population ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics in a 16-bed PACU unit
• Manage patients presenting with diagnoses including orthopedic, neurological, cardiothoracic, vascular, general, thoracic, urological, and gynecological surgical conditions
• Maintain a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio while delivering safe, high-quality recovery care
• Rotate with pre-op as required for this contract assignment
• Float within specialty as needed, including to a sister facility when required
• Work holidays as scheduled and fulfill weekend commitments of 2 weekends per schedule cycle

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in Maryland or a valid Compact RN license at time of submission
• BLS certification – American Heart Association only
• ACLS certification – American Heart Association only
• PALS certification – American Heart Association only
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required; first-time travelers considered with 3–5 years of strong PACU experience or a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience
• Must have a permanent address 50 or more miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for a broad surgical patient population including cardiothoracic and neurology cases
• Comfort with floating within scope and adapting to varying unit needs without restrictions
• Familiarity with pre-op workflows is a plus given rotation requirements
