Travel Nurse RN - Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) / Pre-Post Op in Largo, MD

Contract | 13 Weeks | 3x12-Hour Rotating Day/Night Shifts (07:30–20:00 / 19:30–08:00) | Expected 36 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide post-anesthesia care to a diverse patient population ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics across a 16-bed PACU unit
• Manage patients with diagnoses including orthopedic, neurology, cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, general surgery, thoracic surgery, urology, and gynecology conditions at a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Rotate within the specialty, including rotation to pre-op as required for this contract; floating to a sister facility may also be required as needed
• Participate in holiday and weekend coverage as scheduled, including 2 weekends per schedule cycle
• Adhere to on-call policies as determined and implemented by the unit, with a minimum 30-day notification provided prior to any on-call implementation

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required; first-time travelers accepted with strong 3–5 years of PACU experience or a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience
• Active RN license in Maryland or a Compact License at time of submission
• BLS certification – American Heart Association only
• ACLS certification – American Heart Association only
• PALS certification – American Heart Association only
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (permanent address); locals under 50 miles are not accepted unless the posting specifically states otherwise
• Must be comfortable floating within scope with no restrictions or special requests; travelers are first to float

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with a broad surgical patient population including cardiothoracic, vascular, and neurological post-operative care
• Familiarity with pediatric through geriatric patient populations in a post-anesthesia setting
• CPI certification (Calm Every Storm online version is the currently accepted online vendor for compliance purposes)
