Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Days | Expected 36–40 hours/week | Majority of hours 0700–2300 with occasional nights, varied weekend rotation; 8- and 12-hour shifts available; backup call rotation with staff, approximately 2 weeknights/month and up to every 4th weekend
Key Responsibilities
- Provide post-procedure care for patients across all surgical specialties, including adults and pediatrics, as well as ICU, Cath Lab, Endoscopy, and IR patients
- Manage high-acuity patients in an 18-bay and 14-bay Phase I PACU environment within a trauma center setting
- Care for pediatric surgical patients (average 5–15 pediatric patients per day)
- Utilize Epic charting, AcuDose Medication Dispensing, Philips monitors, ventilators, and BiPAP equipment
- Adhere to ASPAN nurse-to-patient ratio standards (1:1 or 2:1)
- May float between campuses for Phase I PACU coverage as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active North Dakota RN license (or compact eligibility)
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications — all must be American Heart Association (AHA)
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
- Experience in a large hospital setting (250+ beds) required; outpatient surgery center experience alone will not meet this requirement
- Ability to care for both adult and pediatric surgical patients, including high-acuity cases
- Must live more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible; candidates living 60–80 miles from the facility may be subject to a local travel rate
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Critical Care / ICU background
- Familiarity with Epic EMR and AcuDose Medication Dispensing systems
- Experience with ventilator and BiPAP management in a post-anesthesia setting
