Contract | 13 Weeks | Days | Monday–Friday | 32–40 hours per week | 4x10s or 5x8s (flexible) | Some on-call required (evenings & weekends, approximately 9 shifts per schedule cycle)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing care across Pre-Op, PACU, and Post-Op Phase II settings within a small surgical department featuring 8 Pre/Post beds, 3 PACU bays, 3 operating rooms, and 1 procedure room
- Care for patients undergoing total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements; orthopedic spine procedures; pain management; and ortho-sports medicine procedures
- Maintain patient ratios of 1–2 in PACU, 1 in Pre-Op, and 2–3 in Post-Op Phase II
- Utilize EPIC EMR and operate standard perioperative equipment including IV pumps, orthopedic braces, icing coolers, and SCDs
- Rotate shift start times (5:30 AM, 6:00 AM, or 7:30 AM) based on departmental scheduling needs, filling gaps across Pre/Post and PACU coverage
- Willingness to float to a local affiliate hospital campus to meet clinical needs as required
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Pre-Op, PACU, or Post-Op nursing
- Willingness to take on-call shifts during evenings and weekends as scheduled
- Professional, self-motivated, organized, and strong communicator with the ability to manage multiple assignments throughout the day
Preferred Experience / Skills
- CAPA (Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia) or CPAN (Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse) certification
- Experience with orthopedic total joint, spine, or sports medicine surgical populations
- Comfort working within a small, consistent team environment
