Job Summary

This Registered Nurse (RN) position offers an opportunity to join a dynamic Level II Trauma center located in Chico, California. The role is centered on providing comprehensive peri-operative care, encompassing both pre-operative preparation and post-anesthesia recovery for surgical patients, with occasional involvement in pre-operative care for GI patients.

The successful candidate will be integral to ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout their surgical journey. This includes thorough patient assessment, education, monitoring, and collaborative care within a fast-paced environment, contributing to optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform pre-operative assessments, patient education, and preparation for surgical and GI procedures.
  • Monitor and manage patients in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) during immediate post-operative recovery.
  • Administer medications, manage pain, and address post-anesthesia complications.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough electronic health records (EHR) documentation.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience with EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Peri-Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) and/or Certified Ambulatory Peri-Anesthesia (CAPA).
  • Successful completion of prior travel nursing assignments.
Skills & Competencies
  • Proficiency in pre-operative assessment and patient preparation.
  • Expertise in post-anesthesia recovery and critical care monitoring.
  • Ability to manage diverse patient populations, including surgical and GI patients.
  • Strong critical thinking, assessment, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced Level II Trauma environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Competency in utilizing EPIC EMR for documentation and patient management.
