Description: Unit needs flexible and dependable travelers. The right candidate should be willing to cover call-outs. Flexibility to switch shifts may be required to meet unit's scheduled cases. Candidates are expected to limit call-outs and be present for scheduled shifts. Flexibility is very important. Call is required; candidates may work every other weekend, holidays, and overnight shifts during the week. Call response time is 30 minutes. Unit orientation may involve 1 to 2 days with a preceptor. Common diagnoses include total hips and knees, general surgery, robotic surgery, neurosurgery, and urology. Pediatric dental cases may occur on some Fridays, requiring a 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio for children. The unit utilizes Cerner for charting. Ratios are typically 1:1 or 1:2. There is no requirement for weekend in-house staffing; call only is necessary. Candidates must be able to read and interpret EKG strips. Availability of ancillary services such as pharmacy, respiratory therapy, and IV team is ensured. Floating is restricted; staff will stay within designated areas. Cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled during the assignment. This position requires adherence to a comprehensive set of certifications and competencies. Candidates should be prepared to work closely with a team and adapt to the needs of the unit.
