Job Title: Clinical Nurse (RN) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM Experience: Minimum of 3 years in acute care License: Valid and current RN License Certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS (within 3 months of hire), TNCC (once in nursing career) Must-Have: - Minimum of 3 years in acute care setting - Experience in PACU, critical care, or emergency nursing Description: The Clinical Nurse (RN) has the responsibility, accountability, and authority to deliver safe, effective, quality nursing care. The RN utilizes a nursing practice model to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for all patients assigned to their care. The RN makes determinations regarding the progress of each patient toward goals. Therapeutic professional relationships with the patient/family and interdisciplinary team are utilized to facilitate the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health. Care is provided according to the specific physiologic, developmental, and psychosocial needs of the patient. The RN supports the mission, vision, values, and expectations of excellence within the organization. The RN shall be considered competent when they consistently demonstrate the ability to apply the nursing process. They provide care consistent with the interdisciplinary plan of care grounded in the principles of relationship-based care. Ongoing patient assessment of physical and psychosocial conditions is conducted to formulate nursing diagnoses. A care plan is collaboratively developed with the patient, ensuring services that provide safety, comfort, hygiene, and disease prevention. Essential nursing skills are performed to explain health treatments to patients and families while teaching them to care for health needs. The RN evaluates the effectiveness of the care plan through observation and communication with the patient and health team members. They modify the care plan as needed based on evaluations of the patient's condition and reactions to treatment. A current working knowledge and safe use of equipment, instrumentation, and medications is required. Tasks are delegated to team members based on legal scopes of practice and the necessary preparation and capability. The RN effectively supervises nursing care provided by the care team. The RN acts as an advocate for the patient as necessary, initiating actions to improve healthcare or change decisions that do not align with the patient's interests. Culturally competent, age-appropriate, and ethical care is provided within legal standards of practice. The RN coordinates care activities with nurses, physicians, allied health professionals, and ancillary team members. Effective communication skills are utilized to facilitate safe patient handoffs. Nursing care is documented per hospital policies. Manual and automated information systems are utilized to improve efficiency and productivity. The RN is accountable for meeting or exceeding unit and organizational goals related to patient satisfaction. Positive patient care experiences are contributed to through individual interactions with patients and families. The RN assists in the resolution of complaints with the goal of immediate resolution if possible. The RN investigates complaints and provides information as needed. Other duties may be assigned.
