The RN utilizes advanced assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills to promote physiologic stability. The RN identifies and manages post-operative complications. The RN ensures a safe transition to the next level of care. The Phase I PACU provides care for patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures. Surgical complexity ranges from routine outpatient procedures to highly specialized surgeries. These include pediatric otolaryngology, complex airway procedures, microvascular reconstruction, and head and neck oncologic surgery. Patients are transitioned safely to Phase II recovery, an inpatient unit, or an intensive care setting based on their clinical needs.
