Job Title: RN PACU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum years not specified License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, PALS, ACLS Description: The Phase I Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to pediatric and adult patients during the immediate post-anesthesia period. The RN utilizes advanced assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills to promote physiologic stability. The RN identifies and manages post-operative complications. The RN ensures a safe transition to the next level of care. The Phase I PACU provides care for patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures. Surgical complexity ranges from routine outpatient procedures to highly specialized surgeries. These include pediatric otolaryngology, complex airway procedures, microvascular reconstruction, and head and neck oncologic surgery. Patients are transitioned safely to Phase II recovery, an inpatient unit, or an intensive care setting based on their clinical needs.
