Description

Job Title: RN - PACU Profession: Nursing Specialty: Nursing - PACU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evening Shift Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Phase I/Phase II PACU experience preferred. Extensive PACU experience will be considered for first-time travelers. License: Registered Nurse (RN) Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, CAPA or CPAN certification required. Must-Have: Experience in PACU with the ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms, manage cardiac medications, and provide discharge instructions. Description: This position involves working in a busy PACU environment. The PACU consists of both Phase I and Phase II recovery areas. The average patient volume is 60-80 patients per day. You will be responsible for the care of both inpatient and outpatient populations, including pediatrics and adults. Common patient types include general, plastics, urology, GI, bariatrics, GYN, minor vascular, neurosurgery, robotic cases, ophthalmology, ortho, cardiothoracic cases, ENT procedures, endovascular cases, and post-cardiac catheterization. You may also assist with intubation if needed and care for vented or ICU-level patients. The nursing ratios are 1:3 in pre-op, 1:2 in Phase I, and 1:3 in Phase II. Experience recovering post-catheterization and interventional radiology patients is highly preferred. Support within the department includes charge RNs and management, as well as both CNAs and LPNs who float to assist as needed. You will be expected to work collaboratively with tele, respiratory therapy, anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and surgeons. The position requires familiarity with electronic medical records. Travelers will float regularly between the different recovery phases as necessary. Weekend and holiday commitments are not applicable to this position, and requests for time off should not exceed four days. Professional attire is required; scrub colors are open to any solid color without logos or graphics.
