Job Title: Preoperative RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Preoperative Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of Preoperative experience required License: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state required Certifications: PALS, BLS, and ACLS required Must-Have: Critical thinking skills and ability to work independently Description: Looking for a Preoperative RN. Must have Preoperative experience, preferably with both Preoperative and PACU experience. Minimum of 2 years of Preoperative experience required. Surgicenter experience is not acceptable. Candidates must have the ability to think critically and to work independently. PALS, BLS, and ACLS are required, while CPAN, TNCC, and CCRN are highly desirable. Responsibilities include: Monitoring post-operative patients' levels of recovery and consciousness from anesthesia. Providing updates to the medical team as needed. Obtaining and recording patients' vital signs. Observing patients for signs of side effects of anesthesia medication. Treating pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia, and administering medication as prescribed. Updating charting (EMR), patient files, and medical records. Educating patients and their families on post-surgery care and answering any questions.
